Terms of Use (EULA)

This End User License Agreement (“EULA”) is a legal agreement between you and Dr Quentin Pleyers (“Company”, “we”, “us”), based in Vollsjö, Sweden, for the Stride mobile application and the stride.ac website (collectively, the “Services”).

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Stride, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

2. License

• We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Services for your personal or professional internal purposes.
• You will not reverse engineer, decompile, resell, sublicense, or use the Services to build a competing product.
• You are responsible for complying with applicable laws, including obtaining permissions to record individuals or animals where required.

3. Subscriptions and in-app purchases

• Stride offers free and paid tiers (Stride Plus and Stride Pro).
• Paid subscriptions are billed through Apple’s App Store. Prices are shown in the store before purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions).
• Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policies.
• Free trial periods, if offered, convert to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before the trial ends.

4. Clinical disclaimer

Stride provides decision support and educational information only. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace a full clinical examination by a qualified veterinarian. You remain solely responsible for your professional decisions and for complying with local regulations regarding veterinary practice and medical devices.

Several features are EXPERIMENTAL and provided for informational and development purposes only: the tölt, walk and gallop assessments, the lateral advanced placement (LAP), suspension and rhythm metrics, and the longitudinal Evolution Score. These are not validated diagnostic measures. The most established metric is trot-based head and pelvic movement asymmetry; walk- and gallop-based lameness assessment are not clinically validated. You must not base veterinary or welfare decisions on these experimental outputs.

5. Your content and data sharing

Video analysis is performed on your device. The cropped result, keypoint data and analysis are then uploaded to our servers as described below. You retain all rights to your content.

5.1 Data collection for model improvement and research

To improve Stride’s gait-analysis models, for research into equine biomechanics, and for debugging, the app uploads your analyses to our servers. This happens on any network connection (WiFi or cellular). The data uploaded includes:

• Analysis results, movement curves, and per-stride timing (gait metrics, asymmetry values, limb phase and angle data, stride frame indices).
• The keypoint data (CSV) extracted from the recording.
• The cropped video recording (the original full-resolution video is never uploaded).
• A stable per-device identifier, device model, iOS version, app version, and your device locale country code.

The “Share with Stride” setting (on by default) controls the level of personal data included:

• Enabled: the horse’s and owner’s names, and the linked veterinary / farrier / physio / training notes, are included.
• Disabled: the same data is still uploaded, but with direct identifiers removed — the owner’s and horse’s names, the owner’s personal number, address and phone are stripped. The owner’s email and the clinical notes are retained. This is therefore pseudonymisation, not full anonymisation.

This data is used solely to improve accuracy, for research into equine biomechanics, and for debugging and quality assurance. It is not sold and is not shared with third parties for their own purposes.

5.2 Your choices

You can change the “Share with Stride” setting at any time: go to Quick Settings → Data Sharing. To request access to, or deletion of, data associated with you, contact info@stride.ac.

5.3 iCloud backups

If you use the backup feature, your data is stored in your personal iCloud container. We do not have access to your iCloud backups.

6. Acceptable use

• No unlawful, infringing, harmful, or abusive use.
• No introduction of malware or attempts to disrupt or bypass security.
• No automated data extraction, scraping, or API abuse.

7. Availability and beta features

The Services may change or be temporarily unavailable. Beta and pre-release features (including “Advanced Analysis”) are provided “as is” and may be modified or withdrawn without notice.

8. Warranties and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied (including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement). Our aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Services shall not exceed the amounts you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €50 if no payments were made.

9. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims arising from your misuse of the Services or violation of these Terms.

10. Intellectual property

The Stride name, logo, analysis algorithms, and all related marks and software are our property or licensed to us. No rights are granted except as expressly stated in these Terms.

11. Privacy

Our processing of personal data is governed by the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your license to use the app ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive (liability limitations, indemnity, intellectual property) will continue.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden and applicable EU law, excluding conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes shall be submitted to the courts of Sweden, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.

14. Apple-specific terms

• This EULA is between you and Dr Quentin Pleyers, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Stride.
• In case of any failure to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation.
• Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property infringement.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this EULA and may enforce it against you.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post changes here and update the effective date. For material changes, we will notify you in the app. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
